I joined Yacht Week somewhat at the last minute and I can’t believe I was lucky enough to get in.
Just over a year ago I was sitting in an office training to be an accountant and in all honesty, really not having the best time. I had grown up sailing and spending every waking moment on or near the water and so having decided to leave accountancy I went and completed my Yachtmaster. A few months later I was then scrolling through yachting jobs when I happened to stumble across Yacht Week. Little did I know I was in for a whirlwind summer of new experiences, places and some pretty amazing people. We started out in Croatia on the academy week which I was lucky enough to pass. I was then off to Greece and as the only new skipper there for the first few weeks it was a little bit of a trial by fire, but how fun, everyone was more than happy to help and I quickly got into the swing of things, parking boats in stops that a few weeks before I wouldn’t have thought I could.
I can’t quite believe it went as quickly as it did but what an amazing experience
I’m definitely going back next year, no question.
