The Sailing Academy course is open to anyone with a genuine desire to learn how to sail and handle a yacht with confidence. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to refine your skills, this course provides a strong foundation in yacht handling, sail trim, navigation, and safety.

This is a hands-on and challenging program—success requires focus and commitment. For those who pass, it also serves as a pathway to Skipper Academy for those aiming to take their skills to the next level.

Learn to Sail, No Experience Needed

This is an entry-level course designed for those with little to no prior sailing experience—but with a strong desire to learn. No yacht sailing license is required, but a willingness to embrace the challenges of life on the water is essential.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn key skills such as sail trim, tacking and gybing, docking, and basic navigation. Practical training will focus on real-world scenarios, including Med-moorings, to ensure you feel confident handling a yacht in various conditions.

Beyond technical skills, you’ll gain valuable experience exploring key ports in Croatia, developing local knowledge that will serve you well on future sailing adventures. You’ll also have the chance to connect with fellow students and experienced skippers, building a network within the sailing community. And it won’t be all work—expect plenty of fun along the way, both on and off the water!

We’re looking for motivated, curious, and adventurous individuals who are serious about learning to sail. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you on board!

Academy Format

The Sailing Academy is an intensive 7-day program based in Trogir, Croatia, designed to take you from little to no sailing experience to confidently handling a yacht. Each yacht is led by a dedicated instructor and shared by a small group of students, creating a supportive and interactive learning environment both on and off the water.

Course Breakdown

Day 1 (Friday Evening):

Kick off the week with a shore-based introduction. Meet your fellow students and instructors, go over key course objectives, safety protocols, and the week’s plan. This is also a great opportunity to get to know your crew before setting sail.

Day 2 (Saturday):

Head to the marina for yacht check-in and provisioning. Once the yacht is ready and weather permitting, you’ll set sail that afternoon for your first hands-on experience on the water.

Days 3–7 (Sunday to Thursday):

Full days of practical sailing training. You’ll cover essential skills like sail trim, tacking and gybing, docking, and navigation while visiting Croatia’s beautiful islands. The focus is on developing confidence and teamwork through real-life sailing scenarios. Evenings are a mix of relaxation and social activities, mirroring the balance of work and downtime in real sailing life.

Day 8 (Friday):

Final check-out by 14:00. While the course officially ends here, many participants choose to stay and explore Split or the surrounding areas to cap off the week. This is more than just a sailing course—it’s a fully immersive experience. By the end of the week, you'll have the skills, confidence, and knowledge to handle a yacht and navigate the open water with ease.
